COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on the concerns of the practicing international trade professional worldwide. It has been designed to form a sound foundation and understanding of the major factors affecting the global marketplace. It is an excellent exporting and importing skills building course for the new entrant to international trade that wants a complete survey of the discipline, and a great refresher course for those wanting to revisit the discipline before sitting for the industry certification examinations. All of the major concepts and terminology of international trade are addressed in the hands-on activities and topic papers that form the basis of this course.
Entry Requirements
One of the following
· 1 A Level
· A recognised university foundation programme
· High School Diploma
· 2 years of full-time work experience
· (International students require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent)
· or be
· a middle or senior manager or specialist, with over 5 years of experience
· an Owner Manager wishing to develop and grow their organisation
· a Consultant with corporate clients.
Flexible Start Dates

Exporting Today
· Identify the current trends in global exporting
· Assess exporter’s expectations
· Recognize how small businesses are competing with large corporations in today’s market
Export Plan
· Discuss the elements of an export plan
International Markets
· Understand the process of introducing a product (or products) to the international market
· Describe the importance of a “slow introduction” of products to a new market
Market Research and Entry
· Identify target markets
· Assess choosing a research strategy
· Explain the importance of market research when introducing a product to a foreign market
· Understand and explain basic logistical and distribution methodologies in moving goods into the foreign market.
Export Distribution
· Assess the value and importance of various international distribution methods
· Recognize the value of distribution agreements
Pricing
· Recognize proper prices of goods in an international market
· Distinguish the difference between domestic and international pricing
Getting Paid
· Differentiate the methods of payment involved in the exporting of goods
· Distinguish the risks involved with the different payment methods
Shipping & Documentation
· Explain the importance of proper documentation when exporting goods
· Describe why proper documentation is vital when entering the international market
International Law, Duty and Taxes
· Review the various international legal issues impacting international trade

How This Course Is Graded
On an unannounced and unscheduled basis, students are asked questions by the Tutors, Lecturers and Instructors, the company department manager, the personal guide, the Human Resources Department and other students about various aspect of the learning experience. College Tutors, Lecturers and Instructors have access to data and summary reports in real-time, on-demand.
Grading standards for this course will be “P” for Pass, “M” for Merit and “D” for Distinction. As this course is based on continuous learning; Note that a student MAY NOT be able to proceed to a new module in this course without first demonstrating minimum competency before been allowed to proceed to the next module. Students and Tutors, Lecturers and Instructors have access to real-time performance assessments throughout this course.
Study Timetable
The Import and Export Management Course Unit along with the accompany modules typically takes about 10 to 14 weeks with continuous assessment and assignments. The complete course should take approximately 14 Weeks to complete.
